About Us

Helping Families Break Free from Convention Through Travel, Nature, and Adventure-Based Learning

Hi, I’m Kayla Mathieu—registered nurse, full-time RVer, and content creator behind Wandering Past Limits. Together with my husband and two kids, we’ve traveled across all 50 U.S. states, explored over half the national parks, and embraced a lifestyle centered on curiosity, connection, and unconventional learning.

Why We Travel

When our son was diagnosed with ADHD and DMDD, it was clear the traditional school system wasn’t supporting his needs—or our family’s. We took a bold leap, hit the road, and started living life on our own terms.

Now we combine:

  • Roadschooling, worldschooling, and unschooling

  • Outdoor learning and travel-based education

  • Mental health awareness and neurodivergent empowerment

  • Authentic connection through nature, history, and culture

Wandering Past Limits was born from our desire to share the real-life benefits of living outside the box—and to inspire others to explore, heal, and grow through travel.
